Come Walk With Me

Happy summer to all!

It has been more than just a “while” since I have been in touch with my email friends.  If you have been with me regularly, you may want to bypass this.  I haven’t disappeared.  I am here and I am doing well. I want to invite you to a solo exhibit scheduled about one short month from now, in nearby Etowah TN, in collaboration with the Tennessee Overhill Heritage Association, an organization  that promotes the historical and cultural heritage of southeast Tennessee. Over the past two plus years, I have immersed myself in intense drawing experiences that have led to this exhibit.  During what I call “The Year of the Horse”  I was sharing on social media and on this site, many of the hundreds of images of the horses I had spent time with at Solstice Ranch, just down the road from where I live. You can see many images from that experience here or read about it in some blog posts here and here  The experience with the horses gradually morphed into drawings and paintings of cows, and chickens and ultimately to the road itself that I started walking regularly  through the past year.

It has been a growthful experience for me as an artist and as a human being, to concentrate on a single area and  learn to love it even more than I did before.  When I suggested sharing some of these images at the gallery associated with Tennessee Overhill, the director, Adrian Lambert, welcomed me with enthusiasm  The paintings in this show, along with an accompanying narrative that wrote itself in the process, are all spontaneous and heartful responses to the beauty around as well as in us all the time, even on a small country road in rural Tennessee.  Nearly all of them were done en plein air,  outside sitting in a field or along the road with the wind and the chill or intense heat, and bugs as my companions! I am happy to share this event with you and would love to have you join me.  I hope to be able to post the show in its entirety on this website, sharing with those of you who live at a distance from here, too.  Here are the details with a painterly hint of what you can expect:
