02 Beginnings

momWell, I’ve been thinking about blogging for some time now and thought this is as good a time as any to give it a go. To blog something suggests that the blogger actually has something to say to the “bloggee”. Though that may be questionable, the fact is I have been doing art for a very long time and perhaps, just perhaps, I have gleaned something from those years of experience that might be helpful to someone else. As proof of age (if my gray head doesn’t do that already) the image here was done around 1953 !! See, I told you I have been doing this for a long time. It was a first grade project to draw the members of my family, and this ruby-lipped flat-headed beauty is how I saw my Mom. She saved this and the drawings of Dad and my siblings and returned them to me when I had my first exhibit in 1979. Apparently she knew early on that art would become a life-long passion for me.
My intent in this blog is to share some thoughts, some inspirations, some books that have helped me along the way, as well as some of the things that I am working on currently. I may exhaust everything I know in a short time or I may start probing the depths and come up with some proverbial “words of wisdom” that may inspire or help someone else. So I invite you to come along for the ride.
The first real installment will be in a few days. If you would like to be notified when there are new posts, be sure to “like” me on Facebook by following the icon on my homepage or send me an email and request an email notice.
