This watercolor is done on gesso which was impressed with vintage lace to suggest the dogwood blossoms in the spring that have been touched by a light late frost. In the Appalachian Mountains this is referred to as a dogwood winter. The painting is the third in my kimono series in memory of my sister Mary Jean Olivelli. You can read more of the story behind my kimono series on my blog post.
